Naramata Outdoor Christmas Markets


Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers, community groups, Naramata businesses, crafters, farmers, and beverage and food producers who made our 2nd annual NaramataSlow Christmas markets such a huge success.  Special thanks to Santa who came out and warmed little hearts and to all of YOU for spending your Friday nights with us supporting our community.  #naramatalove


Chefs in the Classroom


Chefs in the Classroom has returned and we are eager to get volunteers back in the classroom.   Are you passionate about teaching children how to grow, cook & eat healthy local food?  Are you ready to create our future food champions?  Well, Chefs in the Classroom is the place for you!  We are seeking the following volunteers in (and out) of the classroom:

• A Volunteer Coordinator – Immediately
• Chefs, Cooks, Culinary Professionals and home cooks
• Educators, parents and others who contribute to our success
• Farmers and avid gardeners
 •Nutritionists
 •Photographers

*You do not have to be a chef to participate!

Our mission is to educate children in our community how to grow, cook and eat local foods, with a vision of growing healthy children in our community.

The Year in Review

Some Projects NaramataSlow supported in 2022:
 

 

1.  Farmer's Market return to Manitou Park
2.  Naramata Child Development Centre, donation
3.  Working with RDOS towards achieving a Dark Sky Designation to decrease light pollution
4.  Earth Day: displays, speaker series, BC Planetarium mobile Observatory, Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory telescopes in Manitou Park
5.   Chefs in the Kitchen, Naramata Elementary School
6.  Naramata Library seed lending library, donation of vintage library card cabinet to house the seeds
7.  NaramataSlow actively participating with RDOS Area E Community Plan
8.  Initiative at Bella Winery to redirect food waste from the landfill to feed animals
9.  Initiative to RDOS to balance vacation rentals with long term housing
10.  Protein Challenge with Okanagan Seed Savers to evaluate which beans performed best in our environment
11.  NaramataSlow Harvest dinner, outside and in person, celebrating community and the bounty of the harvest
12.  Naramata Community Church Christmas Hamper & Community Need Fund, donation
13.  Recognition plaque celebrating the acquisition of Centre Beach is in the final stages
