Happy Mother's Day

As we honour Mother's Day, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the incredible women who have played the role of mother in our lives. From biological mothers to grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, and all mother figures in between - each has had a unique impact on our lives. We appreciate the love, support, and guidance you have provided, shaping us into the individuals we are today.  Your strength and resilience through tough times have helped us overcome life's obstacles and find our footing. Past or present we are forever grateful to you.

CENTRE BEACH PARK DEDICATION

~SAVE THE DATE~
Saturday, July 1, 2023

Get ready little village that could! It's time to celebrate an amazing accomplishment! Nearly three years ago, NaramataSlow set out on a mission to preserve a piece of paradise. With the Naramata Centre Society, the RDOS, and your incredible generosity, we did it! We successfully raised the necessary funds to protect over 320 feet of pristine lakefront and 1 acre of beautiful parkland for generations to come.

To express our gratitude, we invite you to join us on Saturday July 1st for the official park dedication and celebration. It will be a joyous occasion filled with fun, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime. So, mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details on this incredible event.  Together, we have made a difference, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

Dark Sky Designation
Earth Day Outreach

As we continue on the path towards becoming a Dark Sky community, Earth Day provided a great platform to highlight the significance of dark skies for the night creatures that inhabit our ecosystem. The bat houses we gave away were a hot ticket item!  Thank you to John for constructing them, and to Elizabeth and Kyle for talking about the night skies and its impact on the environment.

We also want to congratulate the Naramata Centre on its participation in a pilot project aimed at implementing Dark Sky compliant lighting on-site and on Centre streets. The dark-sky movement encourages the use of full-cutoff fixtures that cast little or no light upward in public areas and to encourage communities to adopt lighting regulations.

Stay tuned as we continue our journey towards preserving our dark skies.  Our efforts to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of light pollution will enable us to become better environmental stewards of the night-time environment.

An IDA International Dark Sky Community is a town, city, municipality or other legally organized community that has shown exceptional dedication to the preservation of the night sky through the implementation and enforcement of a quality outdoor lighting ordinance, dark sky education and citizen support of dark skies.
