Join us for a Souper Supper

Wednesday, February 12, 2025
5:00 to 6:30 PM

Church Hall

Souper Suppers are all about building community, with the help of the community! This month the Naramata Choir is serving up steaming bowls of soup and a generous side of #NaramataLove.

We encourage local organizations or groups of friends to join in by hosting one of these events. It's a great way to strengthen your team's bond while giving back and contributing to the heart of our community.

Bring the whole family—and a game, all are welcome. Souper Supper is the perfect way to take a break from cooking during the chilly winter months.

Planetary Alignment of 7 Planets on February 28, 2025

  Dark Sky Naramata

Planetary alignment refers to the phenomenon when multiple planets line up on the same side of the Sun. Thanks to Naramata's Dark Skies, we’ll have the perfect vantage point to witness this stunning event.

On January 28, just after sunset, seven planets—Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars—will align in the sky. Four of them (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars) will be visible to the naked eye. Uranus and Neptune can be spotted with binoculars or a small telescope. Saturn, however, will be the most challenging to see, as it's close to the Sun.  Here’s a breakdown of each planet:

  • Mars will be the highest, located in the constellation Gemini, above the southern horizon.

  • Jupiter, the second-brightest planet, will be slightly lower, in the constellation Taurus.

  • Uranus, in the constellation Aries, near Taurus' border, can be seen with the naked eye in ideal conditions but is best viewed with binoculars.

  • Venus, the brightest planet, will be in Pisces near the western horizon, while Neptune, the faintest planet, will also be in Pisces, just above the horizon. Powerful binoculars are needed to spot Neptune.

  • Mercury will be near the Sun in the constellation Aquarius, close to the horizon.

  • Saturn, golden and usually bright, will be challenging to see this time as it’s near the Sun.

Naramata aspires to become the first Certified International Dark Sky Community in British Columbia.
